Holmes Miller has a growing portfolio of international sport and leisure projects from Belfast to Beijing. Over the last 30 years Holmes Miller has developed a substantial reputation for experience, expertise and flair in the successful design and delivery of sport and leisure projects.

Holmes Miller’s recent track record has seen the combining of sport, leisure and commercial facilities within stadium projects in York and Belfast.

The practice’s high profile in the world of stadium design has increased its involvement at a number of levels: As well as delivering fully developed design schemes, we are also involved in providing Master Planning, Design Auditing, Due Diligence and the role of Technical Advisor on a UK and international basis. Holmes Miller’s track record as an external technical reviewer includes two legacy venues and one temporary venue for London 2012 and the recently completed First Direct Arena in Leeds.

As part of the delivery team, for the London Olympics, Holmes Miller worked directly with London 2012 as external Technical reviewers (ETR) on some of the main sporting venues. These included the Olympic Velodrome, The Copper Box, venue for the Handball and Boxing and the Shooting venue at Woolwich Arsenal. This position also demanded on site time with Holmes Miller supplying Contract Supervisors to each venue. With the conversion of some of these legacy venues Holmes Miller were still on site well into 2013 supervising the compliance of the works.

Notably in 2014 the practice completed the conversion of Hampden Park in Glasgow, from an International Football Stadium into the Athletics venue for the hugely successful 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

Holmes Miller’s range of Stadium design experience includes: Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh, the Quadrants at Old Trafford, Manchester, and OCS Stands at the KIA Oval, London and Parc-Y-Scarlets, Llanelli.

Many of these have become the architectural backdrop to famous sporting occasions from the Calcutta Cup at Murrayfield, the Ashes at the Oval and the Championship League at Old Trafford.

With over 500,000 seats now built in the UK, and now abroad in India, HM have a proven track record in delivery second to none.
